La Sirena Café will provide Marblehead with an opportunity to partake of great espresso-based drinks—made from imported Italian beans, using a state-of-the-art machine—alongside delicious yet healthful light meals and small plates; the dishes offered combine our chef’s southern Italian heritage with her abiding fascination for meals fresh from the garden, and that take advantage of the plethora of new and somewhat untapped alternatives to animal products.
Teresa Sirignano, our owner and executive chef, is a veteran of long standing in Italian restaurants in the North End, East Boston, and the North Shore. She started in the industry at a young age, and can’t quite seem to quit the habit. Since opening her first place of her own a few years ago in Swampscott (our sister restaurant Café Avellino, where she gives the community a welcome bit of evening entertainment with music, southern Italian comfort food, and a creative bar), Teresa has become increasingly involved in the North Shore community. She serves as chairwoman of the culinary program at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute, which gives her the opportunity to give back to young, aspiring cooks. She also supports charitable and historic organizations including the House of the Green Gables, local scouting groups, and the Gary Sinise foundation.
Teresa is known for cooking delicious food—seamlessly blending traditional and original elements—her quick wit and sense of humor, and her unwillingness to let anything get in the way of culinary creativity.
